Last Winter
Last winter was a blast! At my dad's house we live on 22 acres with a really big hill. When we had a really big snow storm coming I new we had to get our sleds ready. When the time came we got our sleds out and ran outside. On the count of three we all took off on our sleds down the hill. My dad and I were going so fast I could barely even see with all the snow coming in my face. We stopped when we got all the way to the bottom of the hill. It was so fun, but the worst part was walking all the way up the hill. Another fun thing we did was try riding on the snow board. It was so hard because we made ramps and a trail. Last winter was so fun!

Barnum and Bailey Circus
The first time I went to Barnum and Bailey Circus was one of the most best times ever. They had trapeze, clowns, and talented animals, and a lot more! It was so cool when the circus had started all the circus animals came out doing tricks. The dogs where so cute, they were in a conga line. The clowns were pretty cool, but they were also kinda creepy. The trapeze were my favorite. They did flips from bar to bar. It was so amazing! I had a really good time.

Modern Pangea
If the continents were suddenly smashed together I think our world would be better. I think this would create more tourists because they don't have to travel as far. I would also think there would be more people that speak different languages in North America.

Katy Perry Concert
On August 17, 2014 I went to go see Katy Perry live at concert. It was so cool to see her crazy costumes and awesome dancers. It was really loud. We were also really close to the stage. We were in the 27th row. She sang so many songs, some were old and some were one of the newer ones. Some other people were really lucky because they got to take pictures with her and touch her hand. At the end it was so fascinating to see bright colored confetti fall from the ceiling. I definitely want to go again!!

9/11/2001
The events of 9/11/2001 are very tragic. There were many people that lost their lives due to the terrorists that hijacked the plane. The plane had crashed into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. Mostly all of the people at the Twin Towers and Pentagon had lost their lives. This was probably the most tragic event that had happened in the Unites States.

Summer Vacation
My vacation this summer was amazing. The tan sand on my feet felt comforting. I went boogie-boarding and that was a blast. To cool off I sat in my chair to get a golden brown tan. After a fun day on the beach, we went to our hotel and sat in the blazing hot hot-tub. Finally, we went to go get ice cream on our golf cart. When I woke up the next morning that meant it was our last day. I was really upset that we were leaving. I cant wait to go back!!

Free Post
Yesterday we had a science field trip to West City park. It was so much fun. We walked down to the park right when school started. When we got down there we made boats. The boats we made had to be our of all natural materials and be eligible to float. My team's boat held three large weights. After we were done constructing our boats, we ate our lunch. I brought mine and I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. After we ate we got to have a little fun. I chose volleyball. While playing, we kind of got in trouble for spiking, oops! Well it was going good until the boys joined in. I have to admit, they knew what they were doing, but the hit the ball to hard. It was still fun, though.

Free Post (Buster)
This weekend I found a Boston Terrier. He came up to our fence and wouldn't leave. After a couple minutes he started digging to try and get in. After that, I fell in love with him. He was the cutest little dog. So, long story short, my mom ended up letting us keep him. When my brother came home, the first thing he said was, Buster! The funny thing is, that is what I had been calling him the whole time. I really wanted to keep him, after all he got along with our other four dogs that we already had. Even tyhou8gh my mom said we could keep him, there was a catch. If my aunt didn't was him, then she promised we wouldn't give him a new home. The bad thing was, about two hours later, he escaped. I guess that's how he got out from his other home.

Kid Nation 7
In Kid Nation 7 I see deviance when Jared pushed over some one's snack stand. Deviance is behavior that doesn't follow society's norms. (expectations) Just because you're upset or think something is unfair, it doesn't mean it's right to sabotage some one else. It isn't fair to the other person or the town. After all, two wrongs don't make a right. Just because your jealous, which is the first wrong. Doesn't mean you do something to someone else, which is your second wrong.
The next word I see displayed is primary deviance when Greg got mad at Nathan. This is an example because Nathan wanted to put more water in the rinsing dishes water. Primary deviance is the occasional deviant behavior that is not part of the person's lifestyle and identity. It's not frequent and will stop. What Greg did wasn't okay and hopefully he won't do it again.
The next word I see displayed in this episode is social sanctions. Social sanctions are rewards or punishments to encourage conformity to norms. I see social sanctions as a punishment because when Divad didn't earn a gold star it was punishment because she wasn't ever working as hard as she was until the gold star was mentioned. It would of been a reward if she would've been working good from the start. But instead, Divad only worked hard when she knew she was eligible for the gold star.

Kid Nation 6
In this episode of Kid Nation I see coercion shown because the blue team are the laborers and they have to do all the labor. Coercion is the interaction in which individuals or groups are forced to behave or act a certain way and do specific things. the blue team earned the laboring job, but that still shows coercion because they have to do the labor. The town is disgusting, but I don't believe it's the blue team's job to clean the town up. Their job is to not clean the whole town, but to get water for the town and little things like that.
I now see cooperation displayed when the city council and a couple others clean up Bananza City. Cooperation is the interaction in which individuals or groups combine efforts to achieve a common goal. The goal of the town was to make the city better with no smelly old food. I see cooperation when the whole city works together to haul water from the water pump all the way to back to the water tank. To me, that takes a lot of cooperation.
During the group challenge conformity is shown. Conformity is adjusting behavior to match group expectations. I see conformity because the teams all came together and collected 75 cans and finished the group challenge. Together the whole city won a whole lot of fruits and vegetables. Hopefully now the city will now be more in listed with each other since they adjusted their behavior to match the rest of their team.

Kid Nation Episode 5
The whole Kid Nation is divided into groups. A group is two or more people that are in regular contact, share some ways of thinking/feeling/behaving, consider each other's behavior, and have some common interests and goals. There are four groups and they each have a leader. The leaders are the city council whom form the groups and take charge over Bananza City. The thing is the leaders may change, but that means the groups might change very soon too.
In this video I see group boundary shown because there is a boundary between each group. For example, each group wears different colors. Group boundary is a way far an in-group to separate itself from the out-group like slang or clothes. An example would be, "We wear pink on Wednesdays." Group boundaries are usually better ion a society because it's a way to separate groups of people.
I see conflict in this episode when part of the red team felt that Taylor needed to be out of the council. Their solution was to rip posters down and do the wrong. To me that is conflict and conflict isn't the solution. Conflict is the interaction aimed at defeating an opponent (competition) and increase dysfunction and working against each other. Another example of conflict would be at the beginning of the episode when Sanje got hit in the face with food.
Greg shows social aggregate when he made sure Layla was okay after her posters being ripped down. Social aggregate is people that happen to be in the same place, at the same time, but do not necessarily make a group. This works because they are in different groups, so that shows me social aggregation.

Kid Nation 4
In this episode of Kid Nation, I see ascribed status shown when the red team held up to their job and did labor work. The red team earned this by getting done with the challenge last. The yellow team also was held up to their job because they were the upper class. They earned it so that was their ascribed status. An ascribed status is an assigned status someone is given rather than choosing it.
The next vocabulary word displayed in this episode is, social structure because each kid has their own religion and believes in their own things. Social structure is the patterned relations between large social groups and social network ties between individuals or organizations. Some of the pioneers are Christian, Hindu, or Jewish. The thing is no one will have the same religion and that's why social structure is shown.
In this episode social solidarity is shown when the whole city earned the big prize for the day. Social solidarity is the degree to which society is unified that can withstand obstacles. Well, the city with stood mental obstacles including the religion problem the council had. Their solution was when the whole city completed their challenge, they earned a library filled with holy books instead of getting the golf course. To me, this is an example of social solidary.
The city council has a status set. Status set is all the statuses someone holds. The council's status in Bananza City is council member and pioneer.

Poorest Prestident
Some people believe that poor is when you don't have expensive items, I however agree with the President of Jose Mujica. He believes that, "Poor people are those who only work to try to keep an expensive lifestyle, and always want more." I completely agree because you don't have to have everything to be "rich." Someone's rich might be a loving family or something little. So, I believe what he did was a great thing. Helping others is a main part of being president, even if you aren't the richest one.

Free Post (break)
Over my break I did lots of stuff, I was pretty busy. On Wednesday, Alyssa came over and spent the night. On Thursday I went to baseball games and then to an Easter egg hunt where I spent the night with my friend. Then on Friday I spent time at home and played with my dogs. Finally on Saturday I went to the zoo with Alyssa and Kaia. Afterwards, I went to Alyssa's house and saw her pet ducks! When Easter finally came I had a huge headache and layed in bead all day so I ended up missing a kickball game my family played. When I finally felt better I got up and visited with the whole family. On Monday, I played with my cousins all day and procrastinated getting my math homework done. Then I finally told myself to do it and right as I was finishing, my neighbor came over and took my sister and me to get ice cream.

Kid Nation 3
In Kid Nation episode 3, I see imitation stage when the kids decided to have a party. The kids were then imitating the adults of the old west. The imitation stage is when children imitate the behavior of others without understanding the actions (monkey see, monkey do). Because of the kids actions, there are now consequences.
I also see resocialization. The process of adopting new norms, values, attitudes, and behavior. I see this when the city council told the whole town that they needed a bed time. Even though the kids disagreed, the town needed to resocialize to make the town better.
While herding sheep, the pioneers showed play stage. Play stage is when children play pretend and act the way they think others will act. The kids herded as they thought adults would. There plan kind of worked, but they still got there work done .
The kids looked at the council as a reference group. A reference group is a group whose norms and values are used to guide behavior. It's a group with whom you identify. (like 8th graders look up to high schoolers at this time)

KId Nation Episode 2
On Kid Nation episode 2, beliefs are shown when three of the kids said it was wrong to kill the chickens. The kids believed killing chickens is wrong because they are living too. Believes are ideas about reality that affect behavior (can be religious or just something we think will happen). Even though the council already cooked some of the chickens, Emily is still being rebellious and won't detach herself from the chickens.
In this episode I saw Society when the city council decided to kill the chickens. Society was when all the pioneers came together and gave their opinions on whether or not to kill the chickens for protein. To me that's society because they all came together and worked as one. Even though the council fights sometimes, the pioneers always come together in the end.
In this episode, I see culture when I see the whole town working together doing old town things. Culture means knowledge, language, values, customs, beliefs, & physical objects shared &taught by members of a society. (not born knowing) The culture in the old west would be like cowboys and cowgirls. Another custom in there culture would be getting all the water and lots of labor work.

Free Post (Drama)
Drama is everywhere now a days. It's at school, home, and even in public. Drama is where you either spread rumor and/or talk about people behind their back. Middle school is full of drama. Most adults aren't aware of all the drama being spread through out the day. Even though most tell you to ,"stay away from as much drama as possible." It's actually really hard. I would say at least 50% of things said at school are drama related. If it's not about what happened over the weekend, then it's about things someone said, but if it's not then it about relationships. Drama is hard to stay away from, and easy to be involved it.

April 7, 2014
Dear Mrs. Debolt,
My favorite color is orange. The thing is I can never find the exact color orange I like. I love bright neon orange that's a little subtle. Kind of like a fresh orange.
How I spend my weekends is either at home or with my friends. When I'm at home I like to play with my pets, I have four dogs and one cat. When I'm with my friends we usually go to the movies, the mall, or just hang out at home. Most of the time I like to go to my friends house, though.
My technology experience is mostly to deal with an iPhone, Microsoft word, Microsoft PowerPoint or even just googling things. On an iPhone I know how to update settings, download apps, ect. On Microsoft Word I know how to change a bunch of things from changing font all the way to adding pictures. On Microsoft PowerPoint I know the most about. I can add animations, add pictures change backgrounds, ect.
Sincerely,
Kaitlynn Prater

Kid Nation
The green team leader showed verstehen when the yellow team leader was upset. She calmed her down so she felt better. Vestehen means understanding the behavior of others by trying to put your self in their place. To me, that was real vestehen of her.
In kid nation, power was shown when the city council took charge and controlled all of the fourty kids. Now, all fourty kids are divided into four teams and Bonanza City is much more under control because of the power used. Power means The ability to control others. Teamwork is a big part of power because
The blue team, at the moment, are capitalists because they are the merchants. Capitalists are the people that own the means to produce wealth. They run the stores and sell the item each kid wants. There is candy, books, and one bike. So far, they teams earned a little spending money and bought candy and other things they might enjoy.

Kid Nation
There are 40 kids trying to go fix a pioneer town. The oldest kid is 15 and the youngest kid is 8 and a half. The kids will have 4 leaders which are the town councils that are around their age. At first the kids try to bring in and keep all the animals in the town. The 4 leaders had to get to know all of the kids in the town and give them a gold star as a reward for good work. The kids had to pull a bunch of these wagons and a couple got into arguments with the leaders and one pulled a muscle in their leg. The little houses they had to sleep in were old and they didn't have much stuff in their for them. They had to go outside to get some water levy thing to go and get water to cook dinner and to drink. Some of the leaders are starting to get stressed and really upset about everything that's going on and they want to go home. In the morning for breakfast a lot of kids started fighting and some kids didn't get any food. One of the kids finally stood up and gave a big speech to change every one's perspective on how they all needed to cooperate and work together. The leaders ended up finding some type of book or letter explaining how the people that were there before couldn't make it work to fix the town but the next people that saw that could. The two oldest kids that were there drew all over the town so now everyone had to go and clean it up. The guy that got them off the bus came back and told them some more about what they needed to do like making stores and they're having a showdown district against district. In the showdown the red team one against the blue team. The yellow team won against the green team in the showdown. After the showdown they all had to choose between two rewards a town house or a t.v.After the leaders all discussed they decided to get the town house. The morning after the showdown they all started to assign each other jobs. They got stores, food, money for a reward and to help build their town. The kids had a council meeting and one of the laborers Sophia complained about how she had to do all the dishes and no body would help and that the council wasn't doing a good job about being aware of that. Sophia later on received a gold star trophie for being one of the hardest workers. I thought the episode was very interesting and fun to watch. At the end I thought it was funny that they were celebrating by taking "shots" of root beer.

My favorite Movie.
My favorite movie is Frozen. I am just in love with it. They sing all of the time about almost everything they do. I love music and singing so people probably wouldn't be to surprised that its my favorite movie. My favorite character in it is Olaf the snowman. He is just so adorable and funny! I really think his the best one in the whole entire movie. I normally don't really like animated movies or really movies in general because I always end up getting bored in the middle of them and I normally will just get up to go and do something else, so its a pretty big deal that I like this movie and will actually stay to watch the whole thing over and over again if I could.

What Bugs Me
What normally bugs me is when people wear mixed matched socks. It sounds pretty dumb to say that it bugs me but it really does. To me it just doesn't look right and they obviously just don't match. Another thing that bothers me would probably be fake people, like people that are nice to your face then talk bad about you constantly and lie and just do stuff like that. It's a waste of time really. If you don't like someone don't start anything or talk to them it's really not that hard just get on with your lives, people like that are just drama starters.

Music is perfect in every single way possible. It makes you feel alive, it shows you a story, it can give you peace, it can do so many things. To me music is like an inspiration. I normally say music is my life when it really is. You can show someone a different point of view through it. It can show you that your not alone. You can give your testimony thorough it. Music always calms me down and mostly makes me feel peaceful. I love to make music it relieves a lot of stress when I do and say things that I normally can't say. Music can cheer you up when your having a bad day. Music can give you hope and faith. It makes you want to get up and move and do something. I can't really even put it into words, but to me music is just perfect. I would probably go crazy without it in all honesty.

What makes people special.
I think that the US is correct on saying everyone is special. I think its true because everyone has something different about them that others don't. They might be able to do something that others more than likely can't do. Everyone has something unique inside of them that makes us all different. If we were all the same that would just be boring. We're not all the same though. We are all completely different and that's what makes every single one of us special, but special in our own way.

Neverland!
I'm going to Neverland because it seems like it would be so much fun. You get to laugh and have fun without a care in the world. You never have to grow up and you also get to meet Peter Pan. You can meet other people around your age to and explore around. There's a myth that Peter Pan was an Angle and would lead all of the the kids that passed away to Heaven and that's why they never grew up. I think that's really sweet! You get to fly in Neverland and can do just about anything. You just let loose and have your imagination go wild. It just seems like a peaceful and fun place to go to.

What I'll Remember About This Year
What I'll remember most about this year will probably be when I got saved. I was doing a lot of things I shouldn't of been and had a lot of guilt. I was very depressed and just really didn't care anymore. Then there were all of these trust issues going on that my parents now have with me. So finally I just realized I didn't want to live like that anymore. I didn't want to be sneaky, bad, mean etc. I just wanted to be different and to be happy. I remember when I got saved and so far I really haven't been the same since, which is pretty good. I'm more calm and positive than I was before. I didn't want to hangout with the bad influences but I didn't want to leave my friends. So I helped change them to, so far its going pretty well.

The Kansas City's Verruckt water slide is described as insane from the German language. It goes as fast as 65 MPH and is taller than the Statue of Liberty and Niagra Falls! To start your journey off on this insane water slide you have to walk up 264 steps! Keep in mind though that it's totally worth it! The thrill, the speed, and the steep slope you go down! This wonderful invention was designed by Jeff Henry who co- owns the theme park. The slide tower was made out of railroad tanker cars that have been cut and welded into a single vertical tower, that is fitted with bright lights that illuminate as the thrill seekers come down. The Verruckt right now is being tested for safety reasons making sure that you thrill seekers will be safe and have an amazing time on this water slide. It will be opening this coming Memorial Day.
1. The cereal on the top shelf was very extensive to reach.
2. Breanna and Tyler took a free fall out of the airplane.
3. Cassidy was hurtling to the bus stop.
4. I will illuminate the Christmas tree.
5. Michelle was mulling over the problem.
6. Amie's perspective about the movie changed when she realized what it was about.
7. Jayce propelled into the wall.
8. David's oppinion was so radical.
9. Bree was very speculate about Cody's shoes.
10. Tana surpasses Sam in gymnastics.
11. Jeff welded two pieces of metal together.
Q1- The verruckt is a new and insane water slide in Kansas City.
Q2- It's different from the Brazil Insano because it is much more taller.
Q3- Jeff is called the Wizard of Water because he has came up with other water silde attractions in the theme park other than just the Verruckt.
Q4- I would like to go on this ride because it seems alot of fun and it goes super fast... I like going fast.

The paragraph is mainly about Micro-Windmills and how they are so small and you can use them in so many different ways! You can use these reduced sized windmills by solar and wind energy. These windmills are so small that you could fit a thousand of them in a cell-phone sleeve. These windmills can be used for emergencies to, for example if you needed a phone charger to send out and emergency text or something like that it gives you just enough time and energy to do so, also a few thousand will be enough to power the security or the lighting system. Chiao who built the prototype came up with the idea because he wanted to be able to get energy to his house by the big gusts of winds instead of getting a big wind turbine in his back yard.
As of right now though, Chaio and Rao are still brainstorming.
